Every year there are wonderful dahlias to be seen at our local San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, California, and I saw this one there a few days ago. I'm think maybe my wife and I (I mean my wife) ought to plant a few of them.

I lit this by hand holding an SB600 off to the the left for side lighting. Hand holding the flash and trying to zoom and focus my camera with the other hand resulted in a lot of poorly lit and badly composed pictures, but I did get a few decent ones. The flash was in TTL mode and was triggered by the pop up flash on my D90 in commander mode.

Macro photos of flowers are often a bit same, so I've tried to be a bit different with this set of four pictures of one of the dahlias in my garden.

This is the same dahlia as the one in this picture, opened up a little more. Looks like it'll just be all pink.
