Hearts-a-bustin flower with bud, contrast enhanced, just off BRP
Image by Martin LaBar (going on hiatus)
I have taken a few photos of the fruit of this plant, Hearts-a-bustin', Euonymus americanus, for several years. This year, for the first time, I discovered the flowers, which are about as bizarre as the fruit. (See below for a photo of the fruit.) Then, on a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Asheville, we stopped the car, and I got out to see what I could see. I not only found a flower, but a bud. The bud was about 1 cm/0.25 in across.
Some thread-producing Arthropod found this first, obviously.
Larger sizes available, and much clearer.
I am pleased to be the curator of a Euonymus gallery, which has fine photos from other Flickr members.

I often take for granted the ease the working relationship is between Alexandra Rodionova and I. These pictures are a direct result of that comradery. If you where an onlooker on a shoot with Alex and I you would wonder why we hardly talk when we're right in the middle of taking pictures. Well, we don't need to communication, "stand this way, look that way, etc". We know each others every move. Thus is the benefit of working with a muse.
Alas, these days must come to an end. After 5 years of working together Alex is going her own way. So all I have now are there archived photo shoots to share. I'm sure once in awhile we'll team up again...
...in the mean time I guess I'm in the market for a new muse!

Please include head shots and full body shots. hehe

Flowers and tea
I wanted another photo of the flowers but of the full bouquet. The flowers are Garden Phlox (Phlox paniculata). The tea pot was a gift from my Mother a couple of years ago.
