Mottisfont Abbey Rose Gardens (National Trust), Hampshire, England:

Set in the walled gardens of an Augustinian Priory dating back to the 13th century, the rose garden at Mottisfont Abbey is the best romantic rose garden in the world!

Although there are other excellent rose gardens in the UK, such as the modern Royal National Rose Society’s (RNRS) rose gardens at St. Albans and the extensive rose gardens of the RHS at Rosemoor in Devon, the old fashioned roses at Mottisfont produce a truly remarkable spectacle when in full bloom.

These amazing gardens are filled with scent. The National Trust arranges late opening on several evenings in June so visitors get to sample the roses gorgeous perfume too. It’s a good time to visit as the large number of visitors is usually less in the evening and the roses scent fills the summer evening air. At its peak this garden really does provide visitors with a piece of ‘heaven on earth’. If you can only visit one rose garden in the UK, this is definitely the one to go for!

Details: Mottisfont Abbey Gardens contain the UK’s National Collection of old fashioned roses – with some varieties dating back hundreds of years. The collection contains ancient and historic roses such as alba and damask roses, gallicas, centifolias, rugosas, early china and hybrid perpetual roses, together with early tea and hybrid tea roses. There are also numerous climbers and ramblers covering the many pergolas and arches throughout the garden.

The companion planting is exceptionally well chosen too: with clematis scrambling through climbing roses and an imaginative under-planting of herbaceous perennials including peonies, poppies, foxgloves, campanulas, pinks, nepeta, lavender, foxtail lilies, alchemilla, etc. - all making for a brilliant display in the wide borders of the gardens.

Nice Picture Of Roses photos

I find an endless supply of roses to take pictures of by the post office in Rosebud, Texas. Rosebud was once touted as the only town in America with a rose bush in every yard. It even made it to the Guiness World Book Of Records.

For the next week I have some pictures of the roses around Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

I shot most of these on my knees trying to get the right angle to frame the rose with the castle in the background.

These are straight out of the camera. Other than minor cropping this is what the camera recorded.

Cool Picture Of Roses images

No matter how many pictures of roses one made in the past, it is still very tempting to make another one, when they are in full bloom. So unable to fight that temptation, I keep making arrangements with them, and keep photographing them. Aren't they beautiful?

After-lunch nap of four rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), also known as the Ringnecked Parakeet. The bird is a gregarious tropical parakeet species.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, there exist a network of feral populations numbering 5000-6000 each in urbanized areas. In Germany, these birds are found along the Rhine in all major urban areas like Cologne, Heidelberg and Wiesbaden. Other populations are found around Paris and in Barcelona.
I have taken that photo of the feral parakeets with migration background in Wiesbaden, Germany. It is winter time and around -10° C, so the birds are dreaming of the departure.

Originally the birds are coming from India, approximately as pet in a birdcage. Now it is a example for suceed integration in germany ;-)

Schnarchzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... Mittagsschläfchen und wie praktisch: Das Kissen ist immer dabei ;-)
Die exotischen Vögel bevölkern seit Mitte der siebziger Jahre den Wiesbadener Kurpark und den Schloßpark in Wiesbaden-Biebrich. Das Foto dieser vier Wiesbadener Papageien mit Migrationshintergrund habe ich im Schloßpark aufgenommen. Übrigens bei winterlichen Temperaturen von -10° C. Wahrscheinlich träumen die Vögel gerade von der Ausreise.

Erstmals haben sich die Vögel in den sechziger Jahren im Kölner Raum angesiedelt, seitdem wandern sie entlang den Flußniederungen den Rhein aufwärts, mittlerweile bis nach Mannheim, Worms, Heidelberg und selbst nach Stuttgart. Ursprünglich stammen die Exoten wohl aus Indien und sind dann als Haustiere nach Deutschland gekommen (und dann entflogen).

Insgesamt leben in Wiesbaden und Umgebung derzeit nach Schätzungen rund 1300 Halsbandsittiche, die etwa 40 Zentimeter groß werden, und mehrere hundert der knapp 55 Zentimeter großen Alexandersittiche frei. Immer wieder werden Trupps der grünen Exoten auch in Mainz gesichtet.

Und wenn man die bunten Freunde nicht sieht, dann hört man das Gekreische.

Ein Beispiel geglückter Integration ;-)
