Flower Pots [HDR]

HDR is pretty new to me and I've been recently trying to figure it out. I tried it around the house and found out a few things of which settings work for what subjects.
For those of you that don't know how to make an HDR image, I'll give you a brief explanation what I did.
Basically I took three images of the subject with 3 different exposures. My camera has an AEB setting which will snap 3 images with 3 different exposures (one right after another); The AEB setting takes one overexposed picture (look at #1 below), one underexposed picture (look at #2) and the normally exposed one (#3). Be sure to keep your camera stable!!!
I then use a program (like photoshop) which combines the 3 exposures and creates the above image. But there are a lot of settings that must be tweaked to make your image perfect (which I haven't completely figured out yet)!

All right, here goes. My first still life composite. On the whole it turned out pretty well, although I can see so many things to improve. I can now officially appreciate the skill and dedication of professional compositing artists.
All 16 different elements come with 5-6 layers, so I think this one is knocking on 100+ layers when counting the final tuning layers.
I worked pretty much two weekends flat, I guess some 60+ hours in total on this picture.
The table and the flowers are from a shot inside a church in Burgundy. Some will remember my shots from Burgundy posted during summer. All other elements are creative commons 3.0 found on flickr. Thank you flickr community for sharing content to create derivative work from.
I looked at many still lifes before embarking on this project. Flowers are often the symbol of life, jewelry of wealth, clocks mark time, dead animals and skulls death, books wisdom. The combination of symbols tells the (often) moral.

started off in full color. duplicated layer, unsaturated it, added a mask, painted over the flowers with black. duplicated layer, gaussian blur with radius of 6-7, set blending to overlay.

I started to get a little bored on my trip so I started taking pictures of my dog and the flowers that K had sent to my getaway location. Nico is already cute as it is, but put him next to some lovely roses and he's a pretty dog.
