I used more than 92 pictures in Macro mode to make this 65mpx image, a strobe off camera (top left) was used at low power in all the shots against a black background. It took time to blend the focus and assemble the flower so I hope it looks good in large...

Since I started posting the pictures of our hibiscus flowers I'd received a bit of attention from the members of the "Hibiscus Wonder" group, and had invites to post a number of my images there. I'd popped 6 of them over there - most invited, a couple not, but I had followed their rules (post 1 comment 3) religiously.
This morning I got a Flickrmail from their admin saying that their sweeper had detected that I hadn't followed their rules... I had made a point of commenting (with their comment code) on at least 3 other images per each one of mine... So I am sorry "Hibiscus Wonder" members but I've yanked my images from your group as I don't have the time to deal with the accusations of an admin using a sweeper that is clearly not working right.
I'll still take the shots for as long as there are shots worth taking, and I'll still post them here in my stream, but they won't be appearing over in the "Hibiscus Wonders" group...
This is a hobby for heavens sake! (and some people wonder why I don't post my stuff in many groups!)
OK - rant over. Happy Friday everyone. :) The weekend is nearly here!
I typically upload in small sets - don't just look at the latest one in my photostream as you might be missing something you'll like more.... and your comments are ALWAYS welcome :)

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race has been a firm fixture of this quiet Yorkshire countryside town for 46 years now. Once a year, over 90 teams exert a great deal of effort into designing and decorating beds, which are first paraded and then raced through the town in a madcap dash which culminates in crossing the River Nidd to reach the finish line. It is institutional British eccentricity at its very finest, and a thoroughly fun event to attend.
The pictures in this set were all taken from during the preliminary parade through the town which is known as "The Dressing of The Beds". Stay tuned for pictures and video of the race itself - I'll have them uploaded in a day or two.

I was driving my wife out to the little Christian bookstore in the country to deliver some Vacation Bible School materials, and she mentioned she'd never been on Harvey Road. So I said, I'll take you there. It's only a short connector road that passes one farmhouse. I noticed this flower in the barn window and pulled over to take a picture. "You know it's fake," my wife said when I got back in the car. I did know, but I didn't care.

My mother asked me to take a picture of her flowers since she can't see them. Since it's raining everyday I'm in town, I take a picture of her bouquet and show it to her. Yes, I am a smart arse.

Pika Pika
I went to see a rather unique "lighting project" today as part of the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival.
This group, called Pika Pika, hails from Japan and has created a unique lighting experience resulting in an animation based on long exposure photography.
This long exposure shot captures the duo drawing flowers. The guy on the right of this frame controls the computers that retrieve the video and still feeds from the two cameras that are located right in front of the drawers.
A number of long exposure still photos are created, and later played back in sequence, creating an animation.
