Flowers from one of the encyclia orchids that we grow... it's a very faithful bloomer and blooms every summer.

I also realized while shooting this that its awkward to shoot orchids outside because the flowers stalks are usually very thin and spindly and even the slightest breeze will tend to sway them... I guess I'm saying that I got a lot of blurry pictures when I shot this plant.

I came upon the U.S. Botanic Garden's annual orchid show today. I was too lazy to write down or photograph all the plaques telling me which orchid is which, so I just gave them my own names, which is more fun anyway.

I shot this show either last year or the year before but can't seem to find any of the pictures in my stream. This leads me to believe that I didn't take a single picture I wanted to post. I think it's fair to say my photographic abilities have improved since then. I wonder how far along I am toward my 10,000 hours...

We found this plant at the Iris Festival in Yucaipa, CA. As I blew up the photo I noticed that a part of it looks like some creature from Mars sticking its body out of the center of the flower. See how he has his two yellow arms resting on the edge of the hole?
