Cool Bouquet Of Flowers Pictures images

Psalm 30:4&5
bouquet of flowers pictures
I personally like tulips in the ground, but a friend was given a bouquet of tulips which she placed in a teeny tiny vase. By the morning, what little water was in the vase was gone and the flowers had almost completely wilted. My sister said that they looked like they were the embodiment of weeping ... so ... viola -- here is the picture that came of her idea.

Orange Gerbera

The Motif
What can I say about it but the title of this picture. It's a Gerbera I took out of a bouquet of flowers brought it to the garden and started shooting.

Technical
Taken with a Canon EOS 350D and the EF-S 60mm macro. Shot at aparture priority (f/2.8) and with manual focus. It was the afternoon of a very cloudy day, so the 1/60 s shutter speed is pretty low. I used bracketing to be able to merge the pictures into HDR if I want to, but it was windy as well, so the wind changed the motive, and there is no HDR version of this shot.

Wow, so colorful that it is not me!

Most of my pictures have a dark quality about them, I think. So, for a change, and continuing with the springy feel, here is a happier and more colorful shot.

Pretty girly ;)
bouquet of flowers pictures
Memories of roses, sweet peas and daisies. I was so sad to leave the bouquet in Calgary when I had to leave 2 days later. I knew airport security wouldn't let me bring the flowers back in water (I know their stems wouldn't fit into a 100ml bottle) so I took a gajillion pictures to remember them by.

EY surprised me with a summer bouquet from his sister's garden while they took a little stroll outside.

Leonardslee Gardens, West Sussex, UK | Landscape garden view through masses of flowering azaleas and rhododendrons (13 of 19)

Leonardslee Gardens: Landscape Garden and lake views

For a few weeks in May of each year, Leonardslee Gardens in West Sussex, UK, erupt into a spectacular display of the most amazing color combinations of flowering rhododendrons and azaleas. The green, wooded valley gardens then turn into a place of vibrant colors and outstanding natural beauty. Filled with the scent of the massed azalea plantings the whole area becomes a forest paradise. Visitors have often described its awesome natural colors, beauty and tranquility as being like ‘heaven on earth’.

This cheerful photograph was taken around midday and depicts the view over the landscape at Leonardslee gardens with rhododendrons and azaleas in their full glory.

For many years, tens of thousands of visitors have enjoyed the ‘picture postcard’ qualities of this Grade 1 historic garden. Unfortunately, the gardens are now closed to the public as they have been sold to an international businessman.

Details: Leonardslee Gardens is a truly outstanding English landscape garden having a Grade 1 Historic Garden status (English Heritage Register). It covers about 240 acres (97 Hectares) in a wooded valley, contains seven lakes and is extensively planted with azaleas, ancient rhododendrons (some well over 100 years old), acers and camellias - all with a delightful under planting of bluebells in spring.

The great Victorian plant collector, Sir Edmund Loder (who gave his name to the large flowered and scented Loderi Rhododendron Hybrids) purchased the estate in 1889 and planted large numbers of Rhododendrons there. Sir Giles Loder later planted an extensive collection of camellias at Leonardslee. The estate remained in the hands of five generations of the Loder family until 2010 when it was sold to an international businessman. However, the Loder Rhododendron nursery was not sold and is still in business.

Location: Leonardslee Gardens, Lower Beeding, Horsham, West Sussex, England, RH13 6PP, UK. UK Map references: OSGB36 Grid ref:: TQ220259: Map tile ref: TQ22NW40

Links: A more detailed history of Leonardslee Gardens is available on Wikipedia. Leonardslee nursery is still run by Chris Loder and his website contains useful information on Rhododendron Loderi, its varieties and hybrids.

Thoughts of Spring

I don’t do ethereal very well. I certainly appreciate it when someone can create wispy floating memories but my work usually tends to saturated, sharp, focused images. That’s why I’m very happy this went more towards the light misty side.

I’m looking forward to spring!

The lone Daffodil my third sign of Spring
spring flowers photos
This is the first daffodil to start blooming. Since I took this picture, one more has now opened and th at is it for now. The rest are waiting for warmer days to start blossoming. Right now, every spring flower is in transition. This was taken in the most awkward position as it decided to grow by the Wisteria plant and the only way to shoot this flower was to be a contortionist. So, I am proud of this shot, only one of the few that actualy came out.

A old species of flower found in many gardens is this Snapdragon flower. We have several colors growing here at the house.
Guy recalled a thing his mother would do with him with her snapdragon flowers opening the "mouth", of them to show him why they were called what they are called when he was a little boy. This flower holds good memories for Guy about his mothers love of these Snapdragon flowers.

Picture This! Symbol & Meaning In Chinese Decorative Arts

Picture This! Symbol & Meaning In Chinese Decorative Arts
lotus flower picture
Image by Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library
Pewter was used and valued by the Chinese long before it appeared in Europe. Pewter is an alloy of tin and lead. It is soft and can be easily shaped, engraved and stamped. In China, pewter was used for keeping water hot in kettles and serving food, wine and tea. During the 19th century, Yixing clay was added as an interior liner for pewter teapots.

Snuff bottles were used by the Chinese to contain powdered tobacco. Smoking tobacco was originally illegal in China, but the use of snuff was allowed because the Chinese considered snuff to be a remedy for common illnesses such as colds, headaches and stomach disorders.

It was common to offer a pinch of snuff as a way to greet friends and relatives. Snuff bottles soon became an object of beauty and a way to represent status. The highest status went to whoever had the rarest and finest snuff bottle.
